Years ago when I first started this blog as Finnegan and The Hughes it was a way for me to connect with so many different women about raising young kids, finding and fighting for the justices in the world I felt needed my voice and a little outlet. My little spot in the world where I could be me, say what I wanted to say and it never mattered if nobody in my house wanted to hear because so many of you did and related and shared your life and stories with me too. Now here I am, on the brink of 50, my kids are teens and I am still trying to use my voice from behind my little macbook to share with all of you what I love, what I need, what makes me happy and what I think you all would like/need/might make you happy.

In recent years I have rediscovered my love for reading. I even…..hold on I never thought I say this…I LOVE my kindle! Like seriously, I love my kindle and cannot live without it. I always said no way, I am not giving up the smell of the pages of a good paperback but here I am holding onto some small little machine that I can make the font as large as possible, don’t laugh unless you are almost 50 too and you get it!! Though it hurts when you drop it on your face in bed at night, do not recommend trying this, I love that I can read in bed with no lights on.
So here I am, March of 2025, I haven’t written in my blog in years. Truth be told, when Finnegan died it was very hard for me to come back to a place I named after him. Six years later, three dogs later, here I am. Yes, yes, you heard me….THREE DOGS!!! That is a great story for another post but just to quick share below is a photo of my three girls Heather (center) just turned 12 and is the mother of Sullivan (left) and Hope (right) who are her only puppies that survived her emergency c-section birth 6 yrs ago and they are sisters.

Well so much for my welcome back to the blog and intro to Barks and a Bookmark!! Here you have it. Stay tuned for more posts on books, what I’m reading, what I hope you will read and come back and chat with me about and some dog hair in the mix.
